The Watering Hole

Things are lively back here around the pond. Two grackles bathe in the waterfall while a squirrel sits on a log, waiting to make his next move. I’m not sure what that will be, but his vibe is very anticipatory.

While the grackles rid themselves of nasty parasites that tend to eat their feathers and cause infections and/or disease (I just read that’s why they prefer to bathe often), five growing koi glide underneath the surface of the water, poking their noses between rocks and swishing their tails back and forth.

Meanwhile, two cute little kids next door kick a soccer ball and climb a jungle gym. The boy calls out to his dad that he needs to pick up dog poop (they just got a dog and named her Daisy).

Sasha, in contrast, is not so lively. She’s sleeping through all the action in the shrinking patch of sunlight on the deck. It’s been a long, busy day of lying down.
